  • St John's Land at Moray HouseArriving on Foot:

The map below shows how to find us in relation to Waverley station.

See also: Directions to Office (PDF)

  • Arriving by Car:

The Genetic Alliance UK office is based in Moray House which is in the North East part of the city centre, a stone's throw from the Parliament (not that we advise throwing stones)!

Parking: There is limited parking by the office on St John's Street, which is a left-hand turn off Holyrood Road coming from the direction of the Royal Mile.  Pay packing operates from 8.30 am - 6.30 pm, for a maximum of 4 hours.  It costs £2 per hour and the minimum charge is 50 pence for 15 minutes.

Alternatively, if you take the first right-hand turn off Holyrood Road to Viewcraig Gardens there is St John's Hill NCP car park.  If you are already on St John's St go back to Holyrood Road (right turn) and take the first left.  The NCP costs £2 (under 2 hours), £4.60 (under 4 hours) and £7.50 (under 9 hours).

  • Arriving by Train:

Get off at Waverley station rather than Haymarket.  A taxi from the station to the office will cost around £4.

If you wish to walk it takes around 10 minutes: Head up the stairs to the bridge (opposite platform 11 & the taxi rank) and turn left towards the Market Street exit. Turn left and where you see Escape Gym bear right along Jeffrey Street.  At the crossroads (opposite the World's End pub) turn left down Canongate for a few minutes.  When you can see the Clock Tower and are opposite Fresco (a cafe) turn right down St John's Street.  Halfway down this street on the left is the entrance to Moray House (which looks like a car park).  Head into the courtyard and turn left for St John's Land.  Walk towards the yellow house-like building and at the glass doors press the "Door release" button, or if the building is locked press buzzer 4.  Once inside head up to the 3rd floor and we are based inside the ESRC Genomics Forum.
  • Arriving by Plane:

Outside of the arrivals hall take the Edinburgh Airport Express bus (No. 100) into the city. (See http://www.flybybus.com/index.php for more details). Currently it costs £6 for a return and you will need to stay on until the last stop which is Waverley Bridge.

From here, you can get a taxi from the other side of the street or walk the same route as described above for "arriving by train."  To get to Market Street, walk to the opposite end of Waverley Bridge from Princes Street.  At the mini roundabout turn left down Market Street (past signs for Edinburgh Dungeons) and carry on as described in "arriving by train."
