Public Affairs Officer

The purpose of my job is to support Genetic Alliance UKs public affairs, policy and communication activities.

My Main Responsibilities are:

• Assist the Assistant Director and Policy Analyst to influence the formation of legislation and government policy.
• Develop relationships with key MEPs, MPs, Peers, Select Committees, civil servants and All Party Groups in order to achieve Genetic Alliance UK's advocacy goals.
• Provide the day-to-day secretariat, and coordinate and publicise the activities of Rare Disease UK
• Work with the secretariat, Chair and other officers of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Rare Diseases to support them in maintaining a high political profile for Rare Diseases and Rare Disease UK.
• Contribute to Genetic Alliance UKs public affairs work in the devolved nations as appropriate.
• Work with the Assistant Director and other Genetic Alliance UK team members to ensure that people affected by genetic conditions are involved, where possible in Genetic Alliance UKs public affairs activities.
