XP Support Group
The XP Support Group is a UK Charitable Trust whose aim is to relieve the needs of people with Xeroderma Pigmentosum and other related conditions.
XP is an extremely rare genetic skin condition for which there is no cure. It affects less than 100 people in the UK and is characterized by an extreme sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV is in sun light and a lot of artificial lighting. Unless patients with XP are protected from UV, their skin and eyes will become severely damaged which leads to cancer.
We fundraise throughout the year and use the funds raised to provide support to patients with XP. This includes running a night time retreat for patients and their families (Owl Patrol), providing UV meters to all newly diagnosed patients and sending visor film to all patients throughout the UK.
